Orange County:
We partner with Orange County Department of Social Services and Animalkind to provide free spay neuter and vaccinations to owned animals who qualify using the NC State income guidelines or Social Services public assistance.

We have received a grant to include higher income residents for the Community Spay-Neuter Program than the state’s guideline, so therefore, we can reach many more residents who are in need of their pets receiving free sterilization and vaccinations.

Working Cat program  – We received a grant to provide the following free services to any resident of Orange County who has a problem with feral/free roaming/working/ cats:  We will lend them traps, schedule surgery and let them know when it is, they will bring their cat on their scheduled day to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, then the customer will pick them up from surgery and return them to their property. Repeat until we get all the cats at that location, then they return the traps and we move on to the next location. We will provide transportation and food to bait the trap if needed.

Barn Cats –  when we get feral or free-roaming cats who are not very social, we will adopt them out to people looking for cats for their barns, to keep the rodent and snake population down or non-existent.

The contact information for all of these programs will be the Program Assistant Cooper Hatch. You can contact Cooper Hatch at chatch@orangecountync.gov or (919) 932-4965.
